Top Tier White Cake
- 6 by 2-Inch cake pan
- 1 box of Classic White Cake Mix
- 1 cup of butter milk
- 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 6 inch cardboard cake circle
Top Tier Frosting & Decorations
- Vanilla Buttercream Frosting [ recipe to make your own ]
- Carded Tip Cake Icer tip
- Pastry Bag
- 2 packages of Glitter star stickers
- 6 inch Bamboo Skewers
Middle Tier Chocolate Cake
- 8 by 3-Inch cake pan
- 1 box of Devil's Food Cake Mix
- 1 cup of butter milk
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 8 inch cardboard cake circle
Middle Tier Frosting & Decorations
Bottom Tier Yellow Cake
- 10 by 2-Inch cake pan
- 1 box of Yellow Cake Mix
- 1 cup of butter milk
- 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 10 inch cardboard cake circle
Bottom Tier Frosting & Decorations
Make the Top White Cake
- Preheat the oven at 350
- Grease the 6x2 cake pan
- Put a spoon of the white cake mix into the pan and coat the pan
- Reserve another spoon for the next layer
- Using a mixer, blend the oil and buttermilk into the dry cake mix
- Add the 4 eggs and beat on medium for at least 2 mins
- Fill the pan 3/4 of the way with the white cake mix
- Bake for 25 mins.
- Allow to cool for a few mins
- Remove the cake and place on a cooling rack
- Re-grease and "flour" the pan
- Fill the 6x2 pan again using the remaining cake mix
- Bake for 25 mins
- Allow to both cakes to completely cool
Make the Middle Chocolate Cake
- Preheat the oven at 350
- Grease the 8x3 cake pan
- Put a spoon of the chocolate cake mix into the pan and coat the pan
- Using a mixer, blend the oil and buttermilk into the dry cake mix
- Add the 4 eggs and beat on medium for at least 2 mins
- Put the entire cake mix into the pan
- Bake for 38 mins.
- Allow to completely cool
Make the Bottom Yellow Cake
- Preheat the oven at 350
- Grease the cake pan
- Put a spoon of the white cake mix into the pan and coat the pan
- Using a mixer, blend the oil and buttermilk into the dry cake mix
- Add the 4 eggs and beat on medium for at least 2 mins
- Put all of the cake mix into the pan
- Bake for 35 mins.
- Allow to the cake to completely cool
Frost & Decorate the Top Vanilla Tier
- Level and split each of the 2 cakes cake so that they is flat on top and you have four equal layers [ how to ]
- Using your vanilla butter cream frost the top of each layer, and place the next one on top
- For the sides, fill a pastry bag with buttercream with a Carded Tip Cake Icer tip.
- Starting at the bottom with the teeth side against the cake, slowly go around the cake in circles, slightly overlapping each layer so the frosting appears to ruffle.
- When you get to the top of the cake start going around the middle in a spiral the same way.
- Adhere the glitter stickers to the Bamboo Skewers
- Place them into the cake at varying levels with all the stars facing the same direction.
Frost the Middle Chocolate Tier
- Level and split the cake so that it is flat on top and cut into two equal layers [ how to ]
- Place a small amount of the chocolate butter cream frosting on your 8 inch cardboard cake circle and place one layer of cake on top. This helps hold it in place. If you are using the wilton tier cake stabilizers, make sure you have a hole cut in the middle of your cardboard circle BEFORE you put the cake on the cardboard.
- Frost the top of your first cake tier
- Add the second tier on top of the frosting
- Frost the top and the sides of the chocolate cake
Cover the chocolate cake with white fondant [how to video here]
- Kneed your fondant and roll it out into a large circle
- Place the fondant carefully over your frosted cake
- Smooth out the fondant
- Trim off any excess
- Using your gold spray, spray the top of and sides of your cake, concentrating on the top so that it appears ombre when you are done.
- Allow the paint to completely dry.
