How to Elope in Maratha’s Vineyard

In June we decided to elope in July on the beach in Maratha’s Vineyard. We were extremely lucky and all the vendors and venues we worked with were fantastic. Planning a wedding with short notice in a location you’ve never been to can be stressful to say the least. We couldn’t offer more glowing recommendations for the below Martha’s Vineyard businesses.

Who should take your photos: Kristen Leigh Conklin

When it come’s to a photographer, a picture is worth a thousand words. As you can see from our stunning wedding photos Kristen is a real artist. The most important part of the wedding (to me) is the photos and boy did she blow us away. On top of being fantastic she (and her assistant) were real sweet hearts! We laughed a lot and really had fun being photographed. She made it easy. We have nothing but the most glowing recommendation for our photographer!

Who should perform the wedding ceremony: John S. Alley

What a sweetie John Alley is! From our first conversation with him on the phone, we knew he was the JOP for us. You could hear the smile in his voice. John Alley was so helpful and completely willing to perform the non-traditional wedding ceremony we created together. He had lots of great suggestions and even helped us select our location. Plus his signature top hat and tails made it even more special!

Who should create your bouquets: Donaroma’s

Our Flowers Donaroma’s created such beautiful wedding bouquets for us. They were all very excited about being able to use a local grower who’s cali lilies were just coming into bloom in time for our wedding. They created exactly what we wanted and delivered them to our hotel. We even brought our bouquets home and they stayed totally perfect for well over a week. Their reputation for quality creative work is visible island wide as well in the environment of the nursery and glass house.

Who should do your hair: A Hair Affair

A Hair Affair I had big plans to do my hair myself. But when I tried to do a dry run… we’ll it became clear that it was a very bad idea. I contacted a hair affair a few days before the wedding and arranged an appointment. I brought a few photos and in the dry run, on the first try she NAILED it. My hair was exactly the way I wanted and it was so nice that I was able to have a dry run first. Definitely, the wedding hair salon to choose!

Where you should eat after the wedding: Détente

Détente Absolutely delicious dinner where each dish was a work of art. Hob Knob (our hotel) made the recommendation and we really loved it. It’s a cozy restaurant and bar, specializing in Modern local cuisine and numerous wines from around the world.

Where to stay: The Hob Knob

Hob Knob was totally lovely. The room was lovely and the staff was fantastic. They sent us complimentary champagne and made us feel really special. Plus, they have an adorable Yorkie named Jesse who works at the front desk as greeter.
