- Using a J 6.00 MM crochet hook Ch 150 of Color A
- Turn.
Row 1
- In the second stitch from the hook Dc
- 1 Dc in each stitch to the end of the foundation chain
- Turn
Row 2
- In the second stitch from the hook Sdc
- 1 Sdc in each stitch to the end of the row
- Turn
Rows 3 to 9
- Repeat Row 2 until you have 8 rows of Sdc in Color A
- Turn

8 Rows of Spike Double Crochet
Row 10
- Change to Color B
- In the second stitch from the hook Sc
- 1 Sc in each stitch to the end of the row
- Turn
Row 11 – 14
- Repeat Row 10 until you have 4 rows of Sc in Color B
- Turn
Row 15
- Change to Color A
- In the second stitch from the hook Sdc
- 1 Sdc in each stitch to the end of the row

Rows 16 to 22
