A great way to use colored frosting and still have an all chocolate cake is to make white chocolate. This cake was part of a baby “sprinkle” where all the decorations were blue rain drops and white clouds.

For the Chocolate Cake
  1. 1 box of Devil's Food Cake Mix
  2. 1 cup of butter milk
  3. 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  4. 4 eggs
For the White Chocolate Frosting
  1. ½ cup white chocolate chip morsels
  2. ⅓ cup milk
  3. 1 cup butter, softened
  4. 5 cups confectioner’s sugar
  5. ¼ cup milk
  6. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  7. blue gel food coloring
For the Fondant Clouds
  1. Vanilla Fondant
  2. Cloud Cookie Cutter
Make the chocolate cake
  1. Grease the 2 round cake pans
  2. Put a spoon of the chocolate cake mix into the pan and coat the pan
  3. Using a mixer, blend the oil and buttermilk into the dry cake mix
  4. Add the 4 eggs and beat on medium for at least 2 mins
  5. Put the entire cake mix into the pan
  6. Bake for the time on the box directions
  7. Allow to completely cool
Make the white chocolate frosting
  1. Add the white chocolate chips and ⅓ cup of milk to a glass, microwave safe bowl.
  2. Heat in the microwave at 50% in 30 second intervals, stirring each time, until the the white chocolate is smooth.
  3. Allow to cool.
  4. Cream butter until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  5. Stir in melted and cooled white chocolate and then gradually add in confectioner's sugar, about 1 cup at a time.
  6. Then add in milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, followed by vanilla.
  7. Beat on high for about 1 to 3 minutes until the buttercream frosting is smooth, fluffy and will hold a peak.
  8. Blend in the blue food coloring until the frosting is the desired color.
  9. Frost the cake.
Decorate the cake
  1. Using a bit of powdered sugar dust your rolling surface
  2. Roll out the fondant using a rolling pin
  3. With the cloud cookie cutter, cut out white clouds
  4. Carefully place the clouds on the cake
