For the Chocolate Cake
- 1 box of Devil's Food Cake Mix
- 1 cup of butter milk
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
For the White Chocolate Frosting
- ½ cup white chocolate chip morsels
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 5 cups confectioner’s sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- blue gel food coloring
For the Fondant Clouds
Make the chocolate cake
- Grease the 2 round cake pans
- Put a spoon of the chocolate cake mix into the pan and coat the pan
- Using a mixer, blend the oil and buttermilk into the dry cake mix
- Add the 4 eggs and beat on medium for at least 2 mins
- Put the entire cake mix into the pan
- Bake for the time on the box directions
- Allow to completely cool
Make the white chocolate frosting
- Add the white chocolate chips and ⅓ cup of milk to a glass, microwave safe bowl.
- Heat in the microwave at 50% in 30 second intervals, stirring each time, until the the white chocolate is smooth.
- Allow to cool.
- Cream butter until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in melted and cooled white chocolate and then gradually add in confectioner's sugar, about 1 cup at a time.
- Then add in milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, followed by vanilla.
- Beat on high for about 1 to 3 minutes until the buttercream frosting is smooth, fluffy and will hold a peak.
- Blend in the blue food coloring until the frosting is the desired color.
- Frost the cake.
Decorate the cake
- Using a bit of powdered sugar dust your rolling surface
- Roll out the fondant using a rolling pin
- With the cloud cookie cutter, cut out white clouds
- Carefully place the clouds on the cake
