What you need
- 2 sticks butter - softened
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons of Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- Small and Medium Star Cookie Cutters
Cinnamon Icing
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 teaspoons Meringue Powder
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons of cold water
- Sanding sugar (gold and or silver)
What you do
- Cream butter on med. high speed for 30 seconds.
- Beat in sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt until well combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
- Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
- Add in flour until just incorporated.
- Separate dough into 2 disks and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1-3 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350Β°.
- Roll out 1 disk of dough at a time to 1/4 in. thickness and cut out dough with star cookie cutters see tip).
- Bake cookies for 6-8 mins. - until edges are just set.
- Transfer to wire wrack and cool for 15 mins.
- Mix ingredients for the cinnamon icing.
- Using a paint brush, cover star with frosting
- Put sanding sugar all over the cookie
- Repeat on all cookies
Tips & tricks
- Perfect Shapes: Roll dough out between 2 pieces of lightly floured wax paper. Freeze for 15 mins. and then cut out. Poof, no more floppy , unrecognizable shapes!
