What you need
  1. 2 sticks butter - softened
  2. 1 cup of granulated sugar
  3. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  4. 2 teaspoons of Cinnamon
  5. 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  6. 1 egg
  7. 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  8. Small and Medium Star Cookie Cutters
Cinnamon Icing
  1. 2 cups powdered sugar
  2. 4 teaspoons Meringue Powder
  3. 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  4. 3 tablespoons of cold water
  5. Sanding sugar (gold and or silver)
What you do
  1. Cream butter on med. high speed for 30 seconds.
  2. Beat in sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt until well combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
  4. Add in flour until just incorporated.
  5. Separate dough into 2 disks and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1-3 hours.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°.
  7. Roll out 1 disk of dough at a time to 1/4 in. thickness and cut out dough with star cookie cutters see tip).
  8. Bake cookies for 6-8 mins. - until edges are just set.
  9. Transfer to wire wrack and cool for 15 mins.
  10. Mix ingredients for the cinnamon icing.
  11. Using a paint brush, cover star with frosting
  12. Put sanding sugar all over the cookie
  13. Repeat on all cookies
Tips & tricks
  1. Perfect Shapes: Roll dough out between 2 pieces of lightly floured wax paper. Freeze for 15 mins. and then cut out. Poof, no more floppy , unrecognizable shapes!
