What you need
- 3/4 cup of butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 tablespoons of malted milk powder (Ovaltine)
Chocolate Malted-Milk Frosting
- 1 cup milk chocolate pieces
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon of malted milk powder (Ovaltine)
- 15 Whopper malted milk balls, cut in half
What you do
- In a large bowl beat butter on medium to high speed for 30 seconds
- Cream in the sugar scraping the bowl occasionally.
- Add in egg yolks, and vanilla until combined
- Add the flour, coca and ovaltine
- Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour
- Preheat the oven to 375
- Line the cookie-sheets with parchment paper
- Shape the dough into 1 inch balls
- Using your thumb make an indentation in each ball
- Bake for 8 minuets until the bottoms are lightly brown
- While still warm, re-press the indented centers with a teaspoon
- Cool completely
Chocolate Malted-Milk Frosting
- In a microwave safe bowl combine the milk chocolate pieces and cream
- Microwave, uncovered, on high for 1 min.
- Whisk until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth
- Stir in the malted milk powder
- Cover and chill for 30 mins, stirring every 10 mins.
- Beat with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until frosting is fluffy, being careful not to over beat
- Using a small spoon or pastry bag, pike the frosting into the depression in the cookie
- Place 1/2 a malt ball in the frosting.
