Basket Weave Blanket Crochet Pattern

This is nice thick blanket that is great to cuddle up under on a chilly day. The basket weave stitch gives it a beautiful texture and pattern.

Foundation Row

1. Using a J 6.00 MM crochet hook Ch 202 of Color A
2. Turn.

Row 1

1. In the second stitch from the hook Dc
2. 1 Dc in each stitch to the end of the foundation chain
3. Turn

Row 2

1. Ch 3
2. skip first st
3. FPdc around the post of each of next 4 st
4. BPdc around the post of each of next 4 st
5. repeat 4 FPdc and 4 BPdc to the end of the row
6. Turn

Row 3

1. Repeat Row 2

Row 4

1. Ch 3
2. skip first st
3. BPdc around the post of each of next 4 st
4. FPdc around the post of each of next 4 st
5. repeat 4 BPdc and 4 FPdc to the end of the row
6. Turn

Row 5

1. Repeat Row 4

Row 6 onward

1. Repeat Rows 2 – 5 until blanket is desired size

3. Ch  1
4. Rotate blanket 45 degrees
5. 1 Sc 2nd side of the blanket
6. Ch  1
7. Rotate blanket 45 degrees
8. 1 Sc 3rd side of the blanket
9. Ch 1
10. Rotate blanket 45 degrees
11. 1 Sc 3rd side of the blanket

  Edge Row 2

1. Ch 2
2. In the second from the hook 1 hdc 1st side of the blanket
3. Ch  1
4. Rotate blanket 45 degrees
5. 1 hdc] 2nd side of the blanket
6. Ch  1
7. Rotate blanket 45 degrees
8. 1 hdc 3rd side of the blanket
9. Ch 1
10. Rotate blanket 45 degrees
11. 1 hdc 3rd side of the blanket

  Edge Row 3 – 6

1. Repeat Edge row 3 until you have 5 rows of hdc edging
2. Fasten off
