What you need
  1. 6 large eggs
  2. 2 cups of regular milk
  3. 1/3 cup heavy cream
  4. 1/3 cup of sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  6. 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
  7. 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  8. 1 loaf of challah bread (preferably raisin)
  9. 1 cup of coarsely chopped pecans
  10. 3 tablespoons of sugar
Iceing
  1. 1/2 cup of powered sugar
  2. 2 tablespoons of milk
Warm Raisin Syrup
  1. 2 cups of maple syrup
  2. 2 tablespoons of butter
  3. 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  4. 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  5. 1/2 cup of raisins
What you do
  1. In a large bowl beat the 6 eggs
  2. Whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and salt
  3. Slice the entire loaf of bread into 1 inch thick slices
  4. Dip each piece of bread in the egg mixture and then lay them overlapping in a 9-by-13 dish
  5. Pore the remaining batter over the top of the bread slices
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight)
  7. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  8. Remove bread from fridge and top with pecans and sprinkle with sugar
  9. Cover with a layer of parchment paper and topped with tin foil
  10. Bake for 25 min.
  11. Remove the foil and parchment and bake for another 25 mins.
For the Icing
  1. In a small bowl, mix the milk and and powered sugar
  2. Drizzle the icing over the top of the french toast
For Syrup
  1. Prepare the raisin syrup by mixing the syrup, raisins, butter, cinnamon and nutmeg
  2. Warm syrup for 3 mins, until butter has fully melted
  3. Serve while still warm
